Definition
Nearbound is a sales and marketing approach that uses the partners and people already around a buyer to help win a deal. Instead of relying only on cold outreach, teams look for partners, advisors or shared customers who already have the buyer's trust. The term is fairly new and is defined in different ways.
In practice, nearbound often starts with account mapping to see which partners know a target account. The seller then asks the right partner for an introduction, background on the account or a good word.
Some people use nearbound as a broad name for partner-led growth. Others use it only for partner influence on specific deals. Because definitions vary, teams should agree on what they will track and how partners get credit.
In practice
Before calling a target account, a vendor rep sees that a partner MSP already manages the buyer's IT, so the rep asks the MSP for an introduction.
